I also took concrete steps to ensure financial accountability by revising and upholding the city's Investment Policy to generate returns from city funds and initiating a comprehensive internal control and fraud risk assessment. Additionally, I was able to identify and address projects that were not financially feasible, such as the Community Services Center, ensuring that taxpayer money is not wasted. As Mayor of Ennis, I quickly worked to analyze budget issues and implement comprehensive internal control and fraud risk assessments over city operations, as well as identifying and addressing programs and projects that were not financially feasible. I also worked to reduce property taxes and identified new pay-based metrics for EDC tax incentives based on mean year-round individual salaries. Additionally, as a lead consultant engineer in the transportation and infrastructure industry, I am responsible for completing multi-million-dollar projects on time and on budget to improve roads in the state of Texas. |

As a long-time first responder, I am the only candidate with both boots-on-the-ground experience and a proven track record of executive leadership in emergency management. For over a decade as a volunteer firefighter and a past president of the Ellis County Firefighters Association, I have personally managed people and resources during real emergencies. That firsthand experience gives me a unique understanding of what it takes to protect our community when disaster strikes. As Mayor, I didn’t wait for a disaster to happen; I took proactive steps to prepare our city. I successfully launched a comprehensive update to our Emergency Management Plan, ensuring our response protocols are modern and effective. I also oversaw a citywide overhaul of the outdoor emergency alert siren system, replacing outdated equipment with new technology to provide reliable, real-time alerts. My commitment to preparedness extends beyond city limits. At my request, the City of Ennis hosted a regional Texas Department of Emergency Management Training, inviting senior officials from across the region to participate. This action demonstrates my understanding that emergencies don't stop at city boundaries and that a unified, well-trained regional response is our best defense against future threats. My leadership and proven ability to prepare and respond make me uniquely qualified to lead Ellis County as its Director of Emergency Management. |

My professional career and time in public service have prepared me for this challenge, as I have spent years managing staff, budgets, and complex projects. As Mayor, I spearheaded an internal control and fraud risk vulnerability assessment to protect taxpayers' money and ensure the integrity of city operations. I also paused the Community Services Center project because it wasn't financially feasible, proving my willingness to make tough decisions that protect our financial health. To improve efficiency, I've led the charge on modernizing municipal government through the implementation of Open Gov software. This initiative has brought city services into the 21st century with the launch of online portals for building permits, inspection scheduling, utility locate requests, and health department permitting. These changes have streamlined workflows and made it easier for our citizens to interact with their government. I will bring this same commitment to innovation and efficiency to Ellis County. |

While I don’t hold a law degree, the role of county judge in Texas is not primarily a judicial one. Despite the title, the position is much more closely aligned with the duties of a mayor or county executive than with those of a traditional trial judge. The county judge oversees county operations, budgets, emergency management, and policy — all areas that require strong leadership, organization, and judgment. I’m a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. I bring 15 years of public service experience, including serving as both a city commissioner and as mayor, as well as 10 years of professional experience as a civil engineer. These roles have given me extensive experience managing complex projects, balancing budgets, and working collaboratively with citizens, staff, and state agencies to get things done. As county judge, I’ll apply that same hands-on leadership and practical problem-solving approach to ensure county government operates efficiently, transparently, and always in the best interest of our residents |
