Kameron's Mayoral Priorities
When elected as your mayor, I will be driven by a commitment to shape a vibrant future for our city. My focus as Mayor will revolve around three key priorities: Quality Development, Improving Infrastructure, & Managing Growth.
Quality DevelopmentTogether, let's foster responsible and well-designed development that enhances our community's character, ensuring that Ennis evolves while preserving its unique charm. By fostering quality development citywide and promoting tourism in Historic Downtown Ennis and other local attractions, we anticipate a rise in sales tax revenue from visitors. Through enhanced economic development and tourism, we can leverage the additional sales tax income to alleviate the property tax burden on local property owners. This added value will contribute to funding additional parks and improving overall quality of life, all while reducing the tax burden.
Quality Development will be promoted with close coordination with the City Economic Development Corporation and Planning & Zoning Commission and tourism department. I will conduct joint meetings between City Commission, EDC Board, and P&Z Commission. |
Improving InfrastructureEnnis deserves a modern and efficient infrastructure. As your Mayor, I will prioritize investments in essential upgrades to our roads, utilities, Public Works facilities, and water quality improvements, creating a foundation for a more connected and resilient city.
Our city water and waste water Master Plan’s have created a framework for improving our city infrastructure. I will capitalize major investments in our public works facilities to bring them up to modern standards, with substantial investment in water quality improvements. I will invest in our streets across the city. I will continue to work to ensure the TxDOT Ennis Avenue underpass project is constructed in a manner in which downtown businesses see the least impact by maintaining their access. The underpass project is a transformative project for the city which will allow for better East/West connectivity and will decrease response times for emergency services. |
Managing Growth
Growth is inevitable, but effective management is crucial. I will implement strategic plans to manage the city's growth responsibly, balancing progress with the preservation of our community values.
Growth management is achieved by coordination, planning, and preparation. Close coordination with Ennis Independent School District and School Board will be a priority. Schools are the foundation of our community, and we must make sure the City Commission and the School Board have an open line of communication, as the decisions of the city can have direct impact on our public schools. I will put together a committee to review our future land use plan and recommend updates. I will prioritize emergency preparedness, ensuring our city’s police, fire, and ambulance emergency services are equipped to accommodate demands created by growth.
